Grandma's Chicken Stuffing Bake

This is a recipe my grandma made for me before she died. It is delicious if you love stuffing.

Ingredients :

• 2 (11 ounce) packages hot dog buns
• ½ cup butter
• 1 onion, chopped
• 15 fluid ounces water, or more as needed
• 1 pinch dried sage, or to taste
• 1 pinch poultry seasoning, or to taste
• salt and ground black pepper to taste
• 2 chicken legs, or more to taste
• 2 chicken thighs, or more to taste
• 2 chicken breasts, or more to taste
• 2 (10.5 ounce) cans cream of chicken soup, divided
• ½ cup milk, or more as needed
